MEREDITH- Dr. Nick Fleury has opened the region's newest dental practice, Circle Dental, at the traffic circle near the junctions of routes 106 and 3. Dr. Fleury is no stranger to the Lakes Region, having worked for the past five years at Inter-Lakes Family Dental Center with Dr. Charles Lambert who recently sold his practice in neighboring Moultonborough.

Fleury said his passion for dentistry was sparked early, recounting that he began thinking of pursuing his career choice as early as age seven. He said he has been fortunate to attract a seasoned team of dental professionals to his staff to help him maintain his core treatment philosophy of forging a lasting relationship with his patients, based on trust.

A key to patient service, Fleury said, is his staff that includes Registered Dental Hygienists Nikki Tearno and Mary Gosling, Registered Nurse and Certified Dental Assistant Karen Mussen and Office Manager and Certified Dental Assistant Darlene MacDonald. Certified Dental Assistant Heather Mercier is slated to join the team at the end of November. Tearno has worked in the dental field for 15 years, Gosling for 28 years, Mussen for 22 years, MacDonald for 28 years and Fleury for 13 years. "We tell things how they are and have a very up-front relationship with our patients. I think that's what we're known for," Dr. Fleury said. "We like to come to work, have fun and laugh a lot. We're more like a family than a team." A 1998 graduate of the University of Montreal School of Dental Medicine as well as the Canadian Implant Institute, Dr. Fleury also is a fellow of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists. As general dentist, Dr. Fleury said that, with his additional education and training in implantology, he is able to offer multiple services to his patients, including tooth extraction, implantation and restorative dentistry, all in one location. He said he typically also is available to see emergency patients the same day: "We have the know-how to treat most situations and make it convenient for our patients," he said. 

He and his wife, Paula, live in Meredith and are eagerly awaiting the birth of their first child, due in early December. Dr. Fleury said the couple was attracted to the Lakes Region because of the quality of life, coupled with the short travel distance to regularly visit relatives. In their free time, Dr. Fleury said, the couple enjoys sailing their catamaran, hiking the region's many mountains, telemark skiing and traveling. 

Fleury praised the efforts of local tradesmen in helping remodel the building at 178 Daniel Webster Hwy. to house his new practice, saying that such an undertaking typically would take three months but it was completed in just one with crews working nights and weekends to meet their Nov. 21 opening date. "We've installed all-new equipment and completed a lot of renovations to give the office a modern feel, he said. "We couldn't have done it without the support of the community," Dr. Fleury added, explaining that Bill Edney, the town's code enforcement officer, came out on his day off to issue the necessary occupancy permit. "The support we've received from the community is very important to us " Fleury said. The dentist also credited the efforts of general contractor Carl Tearno, electrician Bill Dow, Cliff Fell of Fellsway Plastering, Brian Sullivan of Lakeside Plumbing and Heating, Annie Paquette of Paquette Signs, Eric Haley of Northeast Security and Patterson Dental.
